CD 4140 / 4142 Alloy Bar

Characteristics

CD 4140 / 4142 alloy bar’s chromium content provides good hardness penetration, and the molybdenum imparts uniformity of hardness and high strength.  This alloy responds well to heat treatment.  In the annealed condition it machines at 110 sfm.  It also has good wear resistance, toughness, and good ductility in the quenched and tempered condition.  This grade can also be supplied as turned ground and polished for tighter dimensional tolerances for bearing fitting applications.

Applications

Typical applications are highly stressed parts or parts subject to severe wear.
