Characteristics

ETD 150 bar is produced from medium carbon 4100 series alloy steel.  The heats are controlled to contain nitrogen in quantities normally associated with steel produced by the electric furnace process.  One additive, such as tellurium, selenium, or sulfur is also added to improve machinability.  Made by the Elevated Temperature Drawing process, it eliminates heat treating and secondary operations such as straightening, finish grinding, cleaning, and inspections.  It is suitable for induction hardening and is electromagnetically tested using eddy currents and pretested for machinability.

Applications

Typical applications for ETD 150 alloy steel bar are ones where fine machined sections could distort or warp during final hardening.
