A smoother and tougher version of hot rolled, cold finished steel has multiple applications.

Cold-Finished Defined

Cold finished steel is created by further treating hot rolled steel. Through this second processing step, the cold finished steel develops a better strength-to-weight ratio, which can enable it to hold tighter tolerances during fabricating and machining. Cold finished steel also has a smoother and more fragile finish when compared to hot rolled, meaning that transportation and storage of the metal type must happen with extra care. Typically, cold finished metal is used in parts that require crimping, bending, or swaging. These parts may be utilized by the appliance, building, automotive, and machinery industries.
