OXY-FUEL CUTTING

Also known as flame cutting, oxy-fuel cutting is one of the most well-known forms of processing metal. O’Neal Steel offers oxy-fuel cutting services on carbon and hot-rolled steel. When custom parts need to be created from metal sheet and plate products, oxy-fuel cutting can be performed to match a project’s specifications. Whether you’re manufacturing parts for a truck trailer or fabricating heavy equipment, our team is here to help with our oxy-fuel cutting service.

ADVANTAGES OF OXY-FUEL CUTTING

Oxy-fuel cutting is widely utilized in manufacturing applications and offers a range of benefits. The oxy-fuel cutting process delivers smooth, straight-edge cuts on sheet and plate products.

Our state-of-the-art equipment can cut steel up to 7” in thickness for projects involving thicker materials. Due to the multiple torches cutting simultaneously, several parts can be cut simultaneously.

Whether you need a few parts or a few hundred cuts, we’re here to help.

THE BASICS: HOW OXY-FUEL CUTTING WORKS

Oxy-fuel cutting first involves heating up the material to its “kindling temperature,” or to the point that it will ignite. Then a mixture of oxygen with another gas, typically acetylene, is used to burn away metal, which has the net effect of cutting the material. Oxy-fuel cutting can handle plate thicknesses well beyond the reach of other technologies, including laser and plasma cutting.
